When we began, print (specifically newspapers) was king, and the Internet and many of our current techniques didn't exist or were in their infancy. To get your message out, you advertised in the regional newspaper; if you wanted to make a big splash, you ran a bigger ad. Even the technology for delivering the ads to the publications seems ridiculous in hindsight. At the time, our biggest newspaper vendor actually sent a courier to our office just before the deadline to pick up printed copies of that week's ads. At the newspaper's offices, they then took a picture of these printed ads to place them in the newspaper.
